Panel to address Idaho-Maryland Mine

The Sierra Nevada group of the Sierra Club will host a panel of speakers from four local groups to address the re-opening of the Idaho-Maryland Mine.

The free town hall meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 21 at the Seaman’s Lodge at Pioneer Park, 425 Nimrod Street in Nevada City. A potluck dinner will precede the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Speakers include: Tom Grundy from Alliance for a Post-Petroleum Local Economy, Grant Cattaneo from Citizens Concerned about Traffic , David Brownstein and Mike Pasner from Wolf Creek Community Alliance and Steve Enos from Grass Valley Neighbors.



Panelists will address the mine’s energy demands, water issues, economic costs, historic benefits of mining in Grass Valley, land use and the state environmental review process.
