Out with the old and in with The New Humans at Cooper’s

Electro-rock Sacramento group The New Humans will perform at Cooper’s in support of the “Avalanche” EP.

Born on a laptop and refined as a live act, The New Humans started playing as an instrumental act in search of a singer for just under two years. They quickly established themselves on the central California scene, earning Sacramento’s “Best Indie Band” award two years in a row, and opening for such national acts as Matt and Kim, Gang Gang Dance and The Faint.

Though humbled by their immediate impact, The New Humans always maintained that, without a singer, their music would only take them so far. After a two-year search, Scottie, the synth player, put the keys aside and stepped to the mic with nothing but a raw, untrained voice. And it worked. Perfectly.

The “Avalanche” EP is the first official release by the band. Written with an ear for melody and a mind for dynamic musical ideas, they create a sound unlike any other: a polished blend of epic pop-rock and electro-dance.

And they do it all without a prominent guitarist. Instead, they use piano as a foundation upon which synths and electronic drum loops are layered.

It’s a sound that places The New Humans exactly where they should be, alongside the sounds we can expect to be iTunes top downloads of the decade.
