Our message was heard loud and clear

There are many reasons for parades: College football, Mardi Gras, Thanksgiving. A more important reason is to celebrate the U.S. Constitution. On Sept. 9, Nevada City held its 41st annual Constitution Day Parade. Our forefathers would be proud of our small town’s tradition; I know that I was very proud to participate.

Americans For Constitutional Integrity (ACI) exercised our First Amendment rights by peaceably assembling along with the marching bands and faux presidents. Our impeachment signs and T-shirts were greeted with loud cheering, applause and shouts of “Thanks!”

So well-received was our declaration of “Save the Constitution, impeach Bush & Cheney!,” that our tiny, grass-roots group has experienced a growth in membership. The public is becoming more aware of the crimes perpetrated by the president and vice president, who have committed serious violations against humanity and the Constitution. I’d like to take advantage of this free speech zone to thank everyone affiliated with the parade for including us in this year’s procession. You helped make sure our statement was heard, loud and clear.
