Open letter to the person who killed my cat

Billie Stinson, Bubba's mom
Grass Valley

To the person who hit and killed my cat on You Bet Road recently:

His name was Bubba. He was 11 years old. My late husband brought him home as a tiny kitten that had been dumped.

He was an ornery old guy, and I had warned him many times about crossing the road.

I hope you didn’t mean to hit him, but you could have stopped.

The lady who saw you hit him came to the house to tell us. I am very grateful to her for her thoughtfulness.

He was just an old gray cat, but he had a name and people who loved him.

People drive up and down You Bet Road like it is a freeway. It could have been a person in the road instead of a cat. Could you have stopped then?

Slow down!
