Olive Buchanan

Services for Olive Stock Buchanan of Grass Valley will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will be at the Forest View Cemetery in Nevada City.

Mrs. Buchanan died Thursday, Dec. 26, in Grass Valley. She was 79.

She was born on May 8, 1923, in Tucson, Ariz., to James Edward and Kindness (Nelson) Stock. She graduated from high school in Tucson, Ariz. and married Chelmer Lee “Shorty” Buchanan on Dec. 6, 1940, in Tucson. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers.



She is survived by her daughters Lee Jasmin of Grass Valley, Donna Smith of Abilene, Texas, and Sheri Tatro of Adairsville, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, David Lavon Buchanan, in 1974, and husband, Chelmer Lee “Shorty” Buchanan, in 1979.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
