Obituary: William Larrabee

William E. Larrabee, 93, of Grass Valley died Saturday, March 2, in Grass Valley.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose.



Mr. Larrabee was born Feb. 14, 1909, in Middlesex, N.Y., to Everett and Leona (Hale) Larrabee. A Quaker, he served as an air raid warden during World War II in Middlesex, N.Y. He graduated from Middlesex High School in 1924 and later from Rochester Institute of Technology. He married Florence Young on Aug. 19, 1930, in Lions, N.Y.




He worked for Bauch and Lomb for 25 years. He moved to San Jose in 1956 and was the general manager for Williams Manufacturing Co. He retired in 1968 and moved to Alta Sierra. He enjoyed gardening, golf and playing bridge with friends.

He is survived by daughter Yvonne Larrabee of Holland; sister-in-law Marjorie Clum of Nevada City; nephew William G. Larrabee of Dover-Foxcroft, Ma.; two nieces; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Larrabee, in November 1993.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
