Obituary: Robert Fleming

Services for Robert Louis Fleming of Grass Valley are pending.

Mr. Fleming died Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. He was 81.



He was born March 3, 1920, in Wolsey, S.D., to Robert J. and LuLu May (York) Fleming. He married Helen Bellman on May 15, 1948, in Reno. Mr. Fleming served in the U.S. Navy from 1939 to 1945 and in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1958 to 1977. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He worked for the Naval Supply Center in Oakland from 1950 to 1977 as a warehouseman and warehouse foreman. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed golf and woodworking.




Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Fleming of Grass Valley; sons Jim Fleming of Martinez and Craig Fleming of Concord; and sister, Bernice Anderson of South Dakota.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
