Obituary: Jack Mitchell

A memorial gathering for Jack Mitchell of Grass Valley will be conducted from 1 to 4 p.m. March 30 at the home of June Robison in Grass Valley. For more information, call Betty Mitchell at 477-2558.

Mr. Mitchell died Saturday, March 16, at home. He was 78.



He was born June 5, 1923, in Sacramento to John and Edith Mitchell. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II. He married Betty in 1963 in Reno.




They owned the Office Restaurant and Lounge in Grass Valley from 1984 to 1991. He enjoyed golf and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Mitchell of Grass Valley; sons Greg Mitchell of Mexico, Mark Mitchell of Prunedale and Lenny Mitchell of Grass Valley; daughter, Teri Carey of Grass Valley; brother, James Mitchell of New York and Hollywood; sister, Mollie Mitchell of Walnut Creek; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society of Grass Valley.
