Obituary: Grover London

Memorial services for Grover Clifford London of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley.

Mr. London died Tuesday, Dec. 25. He was 70.

He was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Oakland to Marjorie and Jack London. He graduated from Berkeley High School in 1949 and attended City College in San Francisco. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Jan. 23, 1951 to Jan. 22, 1954. After the war, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Golden Gate University.



He began working for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. while attending college, retiring in 1996 after 40 years of service.

He married Ruth Elnore Becker Aug. 28, 1955, in Oakland.




They were active members of the Horseless Carriage Club of America’s Bay Area and Gold Country chapters for many years. He was also a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed garden railroading.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Grass Valley; son, Gary of Camarillo; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1983; father in 1993; and son, Stanley, in 1992.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Aid Thrift Store of Grass Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
