Obituary: Gilbert Chacon

A Mass will be celebrated at noon today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for Gilbert Chacon of Grass Valley. A graveside service will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Chacon died Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Grass Valley. He was 87.



He was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Kingman, Ariz., to Blas and Idslada Chacon. He married Angelina Munoz in Pittsburg, Calif., on April 1, 1938. He retired after 30 years with San Jose Water Works, where he was a filter operator.




Mr. Chacon was a member of St. Patrick’s and the Elks Lodge in Stockton. He enjoyed raising Arabian horses, hunting, fishing and gardening. He also built his own house.

He is survived by his wife, Angelina Chacon of Grass Valley; sons Jerry Chacon of Los Gatos and Don Chacon of Grass Valley; one brother; three sisters; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
