Obituary: Frederick C. Lawrence

Frederick “Ted” C. Lawrence, a longtime Grass Valley resident, died Sept. 2 with his dearest wife and children by his side. He was 89.

At his request, no service is planned.

He was born in Walnut Creek on Feb. 26, 1921, to Frederick and Mary Jean (Polly) Lawrence. He ran an auto repair business in Walnut Creek before moving to Grass Valley in 1969.



Mr. Lawrence was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying his airplane and pulling an occasional leg.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence enjoyed many years of traveling in their fifth wheel, spending winters at their condominium on Maui and summers at their Lake Tahoe cabin.




He leaves behind his wife Barbara; son, Fred; daughter, Caren; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lawrence was preceded in death by his son, Ernie of the U.S. Marine Corps, in Vietnam, 1968.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are by Chapel of the Angels Mortuary and Crematory, Grass Valley.
