Obituary: Carole Sindel

No services are planned for Carole Lake Sindel, 79, of Grass Valley. She died Wednesday, Dec. 26.

She was born Dec. 6, 1922, in San Jose to Harry Stanley and Helen Florence Paull Lake. She graduated from Santa Cruz High School and worked as a telephone operator, PBX operator and school bus driver.

Mrs. Sindel enjoyed hunting in California and Wyoming, fishing and gardening.



On Sept. 27, 1942, she married Walter E. Sindel at Soquel. He died in 1988.

She was a member of Native Daughters of the Golden West.




Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Sindel Saunders and Craig Saunders of Grass Valley; son, William Walter Sindel of Hayward; sisters Laurel Lake Skotland and Gloria Lake Stewart of Santa Cruz; brother, Harrison Lake of Santa Cruz; grandchildren Burke Saunders, Meredith Saunders Marquardt and Walter Everett Sindel; and great-grandson, Charles Ericson Marquardt.

Her son, Harry Burdette Sindel, died in 1992.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Dining Room in San Francisco.

Hooper and Weaver Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
