Obituary: Anne Baker

Memorial services for Anne M. (Pomeroy) Baker of Nevada City will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 615 Hollow Way in Nevada City. Burial will be at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.



Mrs. Baker died Sunday, March 17, in Nevada City. She was 77.




She was born June 22, 1924, in Mesa, Ariz., to Joseph Franklin and Lillian Juanita (Heder) Pomeroy. She graduated from Mesa Union High School in Arizona during World War II. She worked for the U.S. Army Air Corps as a supply clerk at Williams Field Arizona prior to marrying Allan R. Baker in 1944. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and interior decorating.

She is survived by her husband, Allan Baker of Nevada City; sons John A. Baker of Nevada City, Larry N. Baker of Santa Barbara, and William H. Baker of San Antonio; brothers Joseph S. Pomeroy of Marysville, Michael D. Pomeroy of Yuba City and Delbert L. Pomeroy of Redding; sisters Audrey J. Johnson of Live Oak, Patricia M. Durrett of Ione, and Leslie J. Moody, Elaine E. Arrington and Kathleen L. Baker, all of Redding; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald H. Pomeroy, William Pomeroy and Talmage E. Pomeroy; and sister, Anita J. (Pomeroy) Salow.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
