Violet Sandow

Violet Sandow, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away September 21, 2013 surrounded by her loving family; she was

94.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 63 Years, Vernon, who passed away in 2003. A lifelong resident of Nevada City, as were her parents, Violet was born in her parent’s home during one of the worst snowstorms in 1919. In 1937 she married Vernon and they built their home in Nevada City, where they would raise their two daughters, Judy and Sharon. Violet and her husband Vernon owned and operated the Cedar Theater, now

known as the Nevada Theater, on Broad Street from 1952 – 1957. Later Violet worked at the Savemore variety store and perfected her passion; sewing.

Violet is credited with several Wedding and Prom dresses for her family over her 65 years of sewing. In her later years Violet was in the yard daily tending to her flowers and the wildlife that enjoyed the beautiful property.

Violet is survived, and will be dearly missed, by daughters Judy and Sharon, grandchildren John, Jill, Jerri, and Scott, and great grandchildren Chellsea, Mitch, Meleah, Kaja and Jordan Violet.

There will be a private family service.
