Sally Shumaker

Sally Stewart Shumaker passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, in Grass Valley, Calif., with family by her side.

A private ceremony will be hosted by the family.

She was born June 2, 1941, in Springfield, Mass., to Hazel Gertrude and Sherman Mason Stewart. Previous to her retirement, Sally enjoyed a career as a graphic artist working with various forms of print media.

Sally enjoyed learning about and sharing her genealogy and was very proud of the family’s Scottish heritage. She was a lifelong learner and an avid fan of the television show “Jeopardy.” She enjoyed learning about many topics but was particularly passionate about anthropology, etymology, geology and astronomy.

Sally is survived by her sons, Kevin Shumaker and Galen Shumaker; daughter-in-law, Antonina Shumaker; grandson, Ethan Shumaker; and sister, Peg Stewart. She is also survived by niece and nephews, Jeni Case, Rick Day, David Day, Adam Day and Patrick Day.
