Ruth Padgett

Ruth Padgett passed away on Oct. 3, 2013, at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital. She was 91.

A private family gathering is pending.

Ruth was born on Sept. 19, 1922, in Golden, Colo., to George Ford and Bertha Olson Milton. She graduated from Inglewood High School in 1940.

Shortly after graduation, she married Don Kanawah and they had a son, Steven. She later married William Padgett, the love of her life. They married on Dec. 27, 1949 in Reno, Nev. Ruth worked in the accounting department for a large construction company in Southern California.

She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Nevada City, as well as the Gold Country Horseshoe Pitching Club. Ruth was eager to volunteer for various organizations, such as Meals on Wheels, the county library, Job’s Daughters, the literacy program where she taught adults to read and a care program at Grace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley, where she worked with Alzheimer’s patients.

She will be remembered for the love she gave her husband, family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Bill; sons Bill and Steve (Lynn); grandsons Luke, Don and Mike; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, previous husband, sisters, Dorothy and Georgia and brother, Don.
