Peter G. Athanasopulos passed away at home Nov. 29, 2012. He was 86.

Services are taking place at 2 p.m. Dec. 5, 2012, at Hooper Weaver Mortuary, 459 Hollow Way, Nevada City, Calif. Father Christopher officiating. There will be a reception after the service at Cascade Shores Fire House on Pasquale Road in Cascade Shores. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Hooper Weaver. Burial will be at Sierra Memorial Lawn in Nevada City.

Peter was born July 7, 1926, in San Francisco to George D. Athanasopules and Maria Kolokas. Peter was in the Army during WWII at Beale Army Base. He married Anna, his first wife of 56 years, Jan. 14, 1945, and then married Terry Feb. 2, 2002. Peter was a truck driver/teamster and a beer tap tech in bars and restaurants. He was a member of the Cascade Shores Homeowners Association and St. Anna’s Greek Orthodox Church of Roseville, Calif. His hobbies included gold dredging/panning, fishing, camping, cruising, traveling and his love of animals.

He is survived by his wife, Terry of Nevada City; son Peter (Lynn) of Medford, Ore; brother Dianysius (Margaret) Athens of Ferndale, Calif., and George Athanasopoulos of Clayton, Calif.; sister Penelope Papas of San Francisco; grandchildren Jason, Melissa and Eve; great-granddaughter Amelia; sister in law Kay Athos; step-daughters Charmayne, Molly and Emily; good friend Herman Fielder; and his loyal dog, Josie.
