Ralph “R.C.” Morton, 69, of Grass Valley, passed away on June 13th after a courageous battle with cancer.

R.C. was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret “Peggy” Morton, and sister, Mary Hackett.

R.C. is survived by his father, John C. Morton; his Uncle, Dr. James Morton and family; his three children, John D. Morton (Kaitlyn), Thomas Morton (Brandi), and Laura Back (Ryan); and his beloved granddaughters, Lilly and Violet.

An inventor and tinkerer for all of his life, R.C. found immense joy during his time at the San Francisco Tech Shop, The Crucible in Oakland, and The Curious Forge in Nevada City. His inventor notebook, filled to the brim with ideas, was by his side until the very end.

R.C. took great pride in his children but noted recently that spending time with his granddaughters was the “highlight of his life.” His love of travel, gardening, music, and tennis will be carried on by those who loved him.

In respect of his wishes, his family will hold a private celebration of his life.
