Obituary of William Eugene Callahan

On Aug. 31, 2016 William died as a result of an accidental fall. He was 83.

William Eugene Callahan was born March 4, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were Edward Callahan and Lillian Chmelik. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a major in Anthropology. His lifelong interest was in the evolution of human beings, their cultures, and all living creatures. He found a deep spiritual inspiration from these connections. He earned a Master of Social Work degree from California State University at San Francisco.

William worked for Child Protective Services for the City and County of San Francisco for many years, retired to Nevada County, and built a home in the Peardale area. He loved to walk among the oaks and pines.

He departed leaving Karen Irvin Callahan, his wife of 51 years and their children: Brant J. Callahan; Neal E. Callahan; Mara L. (Daniel) Wagner; Rose A. (Kelly Bray) Callahan; and granddaughter Lilianne S. Callahan; and her mother Kelly E. Cole.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
