Obituary of William “Bill” C. Williams

William Williams

William “Bill” C. Williams of Grass Valley, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 25, 2015 at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. He was 73. He was surrounded by his family.

Bill was born in Santa Ana, California, on Nov. 2, 1941. He graduated from Speedway High School near Indianapolis, Indiana. He continued his education at General Motors Institute. He attended UC Berkeley, and graduated from Fresno State College in 1966 with a unique degree in Engineering Sales.

Bill was married to Elaine (Daniels-Martin) on Dec. 31, 1987.

Bill worked in many managerial roles for Shell/Hysol/Dexter, an aerospace adhesive company, in Pittsburg, California for 35 years. In 1999, he took the role, Director of Global Quality, for Cabot Microelectronics in Aurora, Illinois before retiring in 2001 and returning to California to be closer to his growing family and the golf course.

He enjoyed golfing with his duffers, gardening, wine tasting, playing darts and spending time with his family and friends. He loved to travel, especially seeing the country with Elaine as his “navigator” in their RV. Bill was also actively involved in the Men’s Ministry at Twin Cities Church and found a special relationship with his brothers in Christ.

Loving memories of Bill will be cherished by his wife Elaine; three children by Jane Powell, Kirt Williams (Erika), Kathy Stephenson (Tom), Patty Dworkin (Jim); and son of his heart Blaine Martin. He is survived by his 10 adoring grandchildren; his two brothers, Robert “Bob” Williams (Sharon), John “Jack” Williams (Leslie); his nephews and nieces, and many more relatives, friends and neighbors.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Virginia Williams of Grass Valley.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 2, 2015 at Twin Cities Church, 11726 Rough & Ready Highway, Grass Valley, CA 95945.

Bill’s life desire was to make a difference for the better — he was successful.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Bill’s honor to Hospice of the Foothills, 11270 Rough and Ready Highway, Grass Valley, CA 95945 or the Men’s Ministry of Twin Cities Church.
