Obituary of Valerie Santos

Valerie Jean Santos of Grass Valley passed July 9, 2014.

Services will be at noon Sun., July 20 in Colfax, a reception will follow at Valerie’s home.

Valerie was born to Blaine and Lorraine Hutton on June 8, 1943 in Concord, Calif. Valerie began her career as a hairdresser after beauty school. After moving from Freemont, Calif. to Grass Valley in 1980, she raised her twins while working at Grass Valley Group, retiring many years later.

She is survived by her twin children, Zachary Santos and Stacy Santos Coventry; her grandsons, Nikolas Santos and Edwin Lord and her great granddaughter, Rainey Lord.

Valerie was preceded in death by her sister, Sharol Barnett and her brother, Kenneth Hutton.

She was a feisty woman who enjoyed gardening, going to the river with her beloved dogs and spending time with her ever-expanding family. Everyone would say “if you need ten strong men to help you move, ask Val”.
