Obituary of Robert William Rist (Meatball/Bobby)
Robert William Rist (Meatball/Bobby) ~ October 28, 1958 to October 16, 2015. Bobby peacefully departed after struggling with medical problems. Bobby was the third of five children born to Bonnie Mae Beck-Rist and Clyde Rist on October 28, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio. Bobby’s siblings were Cheryl Ann Rist-Davis, Paul Edward Rist, Clyde James (C.J.) Rist and Mary Jane Rist. Bobby’s parents moved in his early years, finally settling in California in 1960. The family briefly lived in Concord before settling in Camptonville in 1969 where Bobby spent his youth. Bobby attended Camptonville Elementary School and Nevada Union High School. He was employed in local saw mills, worked briefly in a gold
mine then settled into manufacturing, customer service and handyman jobs. Bobby was a jack of many trades, handy with tools and problem solving. Bobby’s restless, social and adventuresome soul allowed him to make lots of friends.
In the early 1980’s Bobby married Denita Patton and they had two sons; William Levi Rist in 1981 and Robert Steven Rist in 1984. Bobby found his passion riding motorcycles, which allowed him to see new places, meet new people and be forever free. His favorite rides were the Feather River Canyon, Sturgis in 2010, Arizona Bike Week in 2014, the Redwoods, Yosemite and Coastal rides. The wind in his face, his family, granddaughters and friends brought him his greatest happiness. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Clyde Rist; his sister, Cheryl Ann Rist-Davis; his son, William Levi Rist and a daughter, Melanie LeNae Hyatt. Living family members include his son, Robert Steven Rist and his wife, Alicia Danielle Pelt-Rist; his granddaughters, Arianna Mae Rist, Jesslynn Noel Rist and Madison LeNae Wiley. His surviving siblings are Paul Edward Rist, Clyde James Rist and Mary Jane Rist; sister-in-law Lana Lynn Rothchild- Rist; brother in law Wayne Jay Davis; nephews Paul Christopher Rist, Bradley James Rist, Brian Christopher Rist and Logan Scott Zufelt. Bradley’s wife, Jessica Marie Roberts-Rist and his great
nieces McKenzie Lynn Rist, Rylee Ann Rist, his long-time friend and companion Caryl Pryor and his childhood and lifelong buddy and partner in crime, Steven Fowler. Many only knew him by his nickname ‘Meatball’. His infectious smile and the sparkle in his eye will be forever loved and missed while he’s riding the highway in the sky; until we meet again my friend.
