Obituary of Richard “Rick” Plagge

Richard Plagge

Richard (Rick) Plagge passed away on Sept. 21, 2015. He was 70.

He was born July 8, 1945 in San Francisco and raised in Fresno, graduating from Fresno State.

Rick later worked in the insurance industry in Los Angeles, ultimately owning his own commercial insurance brokerage. He retired at the age of 45 to move to Nevada City and then volunteered for the Nevada County Juvenile Probation Department.

Rick was an avid golfer, skilled woodworker, fisherman and “Seinfeld” fan and most importantly was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lorraine; their children, Brenton, 35 (Jane), Kristin, 32; and their grandchildren, Evan, 3, and Caroline, 3 months.

The family would like to thank Betty Pozos (caregiver extraordinaire), David Berry (respite caregiver), and all the staff at Cascades of Grass Valley and Hospice of the Foothills.

In the spirit of the way Rick lived his life and in lieu of a memorial service, the family will be holding a celebration of Rick’s life from 1–5 p.m, on Oct. 17 at their family home.

If you would care to make a donation in Rick’s memory, please consider the Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice of the Foothills, N.E.O. or “The Human Fund (Money For People)”.
