Obituary of Richard “Rich” Keyser

Richard “Rich” Keyser died suddenly on May 5, 2019 while traveling from Iowa to Texas for his wedding to be held on May 9th. He was born on February 17, 1960 in Bay City, Michigan to Darwin and Vivian Keyser and graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1978.

Rich was a proud veteran, having served nine years in the United States Air Force. One of his most memorable times was serving as a maintenance crew member as part of the flying Thunderbirds. Returning to Grass Valley, he worked at Grass Valley Fence for many years before leaving to study at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In recent years he worked as a plant operator at Nutra-Flo in Sioux City, Iowa.

Rich is survived by his six children, Richard, Shayla, Matthew, Brittany, Karen and Kimberly; his mother and step-father, Vivian and Wayne Basinger; siblings Paul, Joe and LouAnn; and his fiancée Barbara Johnson. He was predeceased by his father, Darwin (1985), sister, Karen (1954) and brothers Bill (2008) and “Farmer” Bob (2013).

He will be buried next to his brothers near his mother’s home in Hawkins, Texas.
