Obituary of Regina Jensen Barton

Regina Jensen Barton passed away peacefully Monday evening, March 20th, 2017 at the age of 55, surrounded by her loving family. There will be a celebration of life for our beloved Gina on Sunday, March 26th, from 1:30pm to 5:30pm at the Foothills Events Center in Grass Valley, preceded by a public viewing from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at the Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City for those who wish to say goodbye in person. Gina was born to Eva and John Jensen and raised on her family's farm in rural Iowa. She grew up with her two sisters Suzy and Cindy, along with her brother David. Gina always said that while there was often a lot of hard work to be done,working together on the farm made them an incredibly closeknit family. After graduating high school in Dow City, Iowa,Gina attended college in Council Bluffs, earning an AA in business. She then moved to Houston,then on to Atlanta, and finally settled in Northern California in 1985. She then went on to earnher BA in Human Resources from Hayward State. She continued working in the Bay Area, andin 1992 she met her future husband Jeff on Valentine's Day. They got married on June 18th,1994, and settled down in Berkeley, where their daughter Hayley was born in 1997. In 2001 thefamily relocated to Nevada City, and in 2002 Cole and Jacob were born into the family.Gina's children were the center of her life. She spent countless hours volunteering at schools,running the kids around, attending their sporting events and Hayley's concerts and plays. Allof Gina's children's friends were welcome in her home, and she was considered almost a secondmom by many of them. She enjoyed being with friends doing activities such as crafts, buncogroups, and book clubs. She also loved the outdoors, and had great times boating with friends andfamily, camping in the Sierras, and skiing in her younger days. She also often caught more fishthen Jeff did on their excursions together.Gina had numerous friends from all walks of life, and was accepting of everyone. She tookpeople for what they were, and found the best in everyone she met. She truly had a wide circle of friends who were all dear to her.

Gina is survived by her loving husband Jeff, her daughter Hayley, her sons Cole and Jacob, mother Eva Jensen, sister Suzy and husband Bob Cruz, sister Cindy and husband Paul Rogers, brother David, mother in law Babette Barton, brothers in law David and Baird Barton, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father John Jensen. Flowers should be sent to the Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City on Saturday, or can be brought to the celebration.
