Obituary of Raymond Bush

Raymond Harold Bush, long time resident of Washington, Calif., passed away on July 10, 2014 in Grass Valley, Calif. at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

Raymond will have full Military Honors at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 in the Washington Cemetery. Everyone attending is invited to the Washington Hotel for a drink on Bush.

Ray was born in Michigan to Ernest and Edna Bush on Aug. 20, 1921. Ray was an avid ‘saw player’ and performed at the Washington Hotel in his younger years with each of his nine dogs.

He served in WWII in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on Dec. 11, 1946. He received a commendation on March 6, 1945 for his alert and skillful performance of duty which contributed to the destruction of an enemy submarine. Raymond also served in the U.S. Merchant Marines Coast Guard in San Francisco.

Ray had his own mining claim at the mouth of Poorman Creek and worked for Allegany Lu in the San Francisco Mine on Relief Hill Road in the little town of Washington. He was still driving to Washington from his current residence in Grass Valley.

Ray had a great sense of humor and was loved by all. He will be missed.
