Obituary of Patricia Kendall

Patricia Kendall passed away on April 2, 2019, of a massive heart attack while at home. She was 85 years old.

Pat was born August 7, 1933, in Ogden, Utah, the third child of Kenneth W. Jones and Margaret Schandel Jones. She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High in 1951. She attended St. Mary’s of the Wasatch Nursing School for one year before transferring to Ogden Business College. Upon graduation, she worked at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, where she met her husband of 55 years, Dale Kendall. After Dale was discharged from the Air Force, they moved briefly to his home state of Kansas, and then to Southern California for Dale’s post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA. A year later, Pat and Dale moved to Costa Mesa, California, where he opened a small-animal veterinary practice. Pat worked for several years in escrow and then was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Santa Ana, California.

Pat and Dale retired to Penn Valley in 1996. They often said that this was the happiest time of their lives. They had a great many friends and were involved in several clubs and social organizations. A devout Catholic, Pat was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grass Valley.

Pat was best known for her wickedly funny sense of humor, but also her generosity of spirit.
