Obituary of Nina Alger

Nina G. Alger passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Grass Valley on Oct. 13, 2014. She was 91.

There will be a small private celebration of life/memorial in Santa Cruz at a later date.

Nina was born in Milton, Massachusetts to George and Anne Gratto on Sept. 9, 1923 and graduated from Milton High School in 1941. She came out to Southern California with family where she married her husband Ken Alger. She went on to have three children and help with four other children, as well as build a successful real estate company. She completed the last of her real estate career while in Orland, California before retiring.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Raynsford and eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Nina is preceded in death by her mother Anne; father George Gratto; husband Ken Alger; sister Shirley as well as her daughter Shirley Ann Lodge and son George Alger.

May she rest in peace.
