Obituary of Mildred (Millie) Evelyn Decker Lane Darewit

Mildred (Millie) Evelyn Decker Lane Darewit passed away March 9, 2015, at her home. She was 96.

She was born Nov. 14, 1918 in Idaho. Her parents were Ray J. and Nellie Mae Decker.

Mildred married Marion “Pinky” Lane in 1938 in Idaho and they were the parents of Mel, Linda and Melody. Millie’s husband Marion died in 1955 in Nevada City, and in 1959, she married Harold “Buck” Darewit. They were married 52 years and had a very large quasi-adopted family.

Among the survivors from that family include John Parent, Neil Locke, Todd Wahoske, Diane King and the DeGrio family children (Pat, Bud, Kathleen and Mickey), as well as many others. In addition, Millie had 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.

Millie was survived by her children Mel (Judith) Lane, Linda Starry and Melody (Larry) Laverentz.

She was preceded in death by Buck Darewit and Edwin Starry.

She will be missed by all and a truly good light no longer shines in this world.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be sent to Hospice of the Foothills, 11270 Rough and Ready Highway, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
