Obituary of Michael Duff Newton

Michael Newton passed away in Grass Valley on Sept. 21, 2016.

He was born Dec. 9, 1931 in Hollywood, California.

Michael served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Arizona (1953) and later earned advanced degrees from California colleges. He was a corporate marketing manager, educator, counselor and author, who wrote bestselling books in metaphysics. He founded the Newton Institute for spiritual regression and touched the lives of many people around the world where he pioneered the study of the afterlife through hypnotherapy.

Michael and Peggy were global travelers in over 60 countries on six continents in their adventurous, love filled lives together.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy, of 60 years; his two children, Paul Newton of Grass Valley and daughter, Kathryn Newton; grandson Lucien Michael, both of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and sister Norah Mayper of Ben Lomond, California.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled sometime in the future.

Arrangements are under the care of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
