Obituary of Mary Morales

Mary Elizabeth Morales of Nevada City, Calif., passed away Aug. 30, 2014 at Golden Empire Nursing Center. She was 97.

There will be no services per her request.

Mary was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Nevada City, to Leslie John and May Elizabeth Orzalli. She attended Nevada City High School and graduated in 1934. She married Alfred A. (Jim) Peard and raised their three children, Alfred R., Ida May and Burnell D. Peard.

Mary was in nursing for 30 years and retired as an LVN and later married Frank S. Morales, who died in 2003.

She loved family gatherings, gardening, cooking and always looked forward to deer hunting season.

Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Burnell D. and Bonnie Peard; grandsons, Larry Peard, Dustin (Sarah) Peard, John (Lisa) Morales III; granddaughters, Laura (Rich) Olson, Debbie Painter, Danielle Peard (Jim) Ettlin, Roxanna Morales (Ralph Redd), great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews. She is also survived by her son-in-law, John Morales.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lester P. (Evelyn), Leslie E. (Valencia) and Carlton L. Orzalli; son, Alfred R. Peard; daughter, Ida May Morales and grandsons, Gary and Jayme Peard.
