Obituary of Mary Louise Williams

Mary Louise Williams, long time resident of Nevada City, passed away on December 6, 2018, in Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael, CA. She was 88.

Mary Louise was born on January 21, 1930 in Altadena, CA to Earl and Marguerite Kelly. She and the Kelly family, which included her twelve siblings, moved to Newhall, CA, during her early years. She graduated from San Fernando High School in 1947. Prior to graduating, while working part time, she met a WWII veteran, Sgt, Howard F. Williams, who was also a resident of Newhall. They married in 1948 and settled in Newhall to start their family. Mary Louise was a dedicated stay-at-home mom raising her 4 boys and supporting her husband. She was also intimately involved with her Church community.

In 1966, the Williams family moved to Nevada County where she began her dedicated service to the St. Canice Catholic Church community, which carried on until her death. She was also involved in 4-H activities as well as being a Senior Group volunteer and Hospice Provider volunteer. She lost her loving husband, Howard, of more than 50 years in Feb 2002, but that did not stop her dedicated service to those around her. For Mary Louise, Church, family and country remained the center of her life up until her death.

She is survived by her four sons, Matthew, Mark, Patrick and Craig; her siblings Thomas, Michael and John and a sister Helen; thirteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was especially proud of all her son’s involvement in the military service to their country.

Services for Mary Louise are scheduled for 10 a.m., on January 25, 2019, at St. Canice Catholic Church, Nevada City.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
