Obituary of Keith E. Sonke

Keith Sonke

Keith E. Sonke of North San Juan died Oct. 13, 2014, peacefully and of natural causes.

A celebration of life will take place June 2015 in North San Juan (TBA).

He was born Nov. 1, 1946, to Adrian and Christine Sonke in Angels Camp, Calif. and attended school locally until graduating from Nevada Union HIgh School in 1964. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany and received honorable discharge as a sergeant.

Logging was in Keith’s blood. He returned to Nevada County and worked in the logging industry for 35-plus years.

In 1972, Keith’s only child, Christine, was hatched. In 1998, Keith met his true love, Diane, and gained a son, Michael, and a daughter, Patti, and they were together until her passing in 2010.

Keith was an honorary member of the Old Geezers Club at Peterson’s Corner. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and B.S.-ing. And he loved his green Corvette.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine; son Michael; brother Robert; cousin Perry; six grandchildren and twin great-grandbabies.

Keith is preceded in death by his father, mother, true love and nephew.

He was a wonderful man, father, son, grandpa and friend.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
