Obituary of John Henry Meyer

John Henry Meyer passed away Feb. 5, 2016 after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 56.

A service will be held in his honor at 2 p.m. March 5 at St. Canice Church.

John Henry Meyer was born July 8, 1959 in Los Angeles the fifth of six children born to Otto and Ruth Meyer. The family moved to Laguna Beach when he was seven. He enjoyed the ocean and was on a competitive swim team in San Clemente. John moved to Palos Verdes in the 5th grade and lost his mother that year. He later moved to Santa Ana and attended Orange High School. John showed an interest in all things cars at an early age and happily modified his father’s vehicles. He excelled in water polo, also playing on the local community college team. He was a lifeguard and swim instructor showing competence and kindness to children of all ages and abilities. John graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in business from Cal State Fullerton and became a stock broker, however, his passion for cars stayed with John throughout his life. He could often be found underneath the hood of a friend’s vehicle in exchange for a six pack of beer!

John also enjoyed fishing in Lake Wildwood where he lived with his wife Julie and two children, Thomas and Therese. He was an active member of the Lions Club in his community and loved to shoot trap at the local sportsman’s club.
