Obituary of James “Bill” H. McNabb

James “Bill” H. McNabb passed away in his home at Hilltop Commons in Grass Valley, California, surrounded by his children on Oct. 18, 2015. He was 86.

Bill was the oldest of three children born to Felix and Ellen McNabb in Leedey, Oklahoma. He was born on Jan. 21, 1929.

He moved to Kingsburg, California, with his family during the dust bowl storms when he was 16 years old. He graduated from Kingsburg High School in 1946, married Lois Skoglund in July 1950 and was then drafted into the Army in December 1950.

Bill moved his family to San Jose in 1966. After his retirement from AT&T, he traveled extensively throughout the United States in his motor home. His love of travel also took him on cruises and trips to several countries.

He is survived by his wife Lois; daughter Donna (Neil) Derrick; sons, Darrell (Brenda) and David (Marita); loving grandfather of Bill (Andee), Mark (Kristi), Seth (Wendi) Derrick, Stacey (Todd) Wiederhold and Matthew; as well as great-grandfather to 10. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Yeager and brother Earl.

He never knew a stranger and will be missed by everyone in his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Foothills.
