Obituary of Jack Asa Kastner

Jack Asa Kastner passed away on Aug. 28, 2015. He was 85.

A celebration of life will be held from noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Rough and Ready Fire Station.

He lived in Penn Valley for six years after decades as a rancher in Angels Camp.

Born in Oklahoma to Elmer and Cora Kastner, Jack lived most of his life in California. He served in the Army National Guard in Korea, was a member of the Masonic Temple, owned a radiator shop, and raised squab and goats.

Jack is survived by his daughters, Shelley (Frank) Ramirez and Rhonda (Tom) Valdez, both of Albuquerque, Susanne (Bob) Vaughn of Rough and Ready, Sande Burns; and son Steve (Kathy) Higgins both of Angels Camp; grandchildren, Nathan Randall, Renae Renteria, Heather Westbrook, Johnny Valdez, Adam Valdez, Michelle Higgins, Bernadette Higgins, Mariah Matthews, Savannaha Swilley, and Kyler Vaughn; many great-grandchildren; foster children; and close friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his son Johnny Kastner; and his wife Carol Kastner.
