Obituary of Herbert Mann

Herb Mann passed away Sept. 21, 2015 at his home in Grass Valley. He was 87.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 2 at Shiloh District Cemetery, 7130 Windsor Road, Windsor, California.

He was born Sept. 15, 1928 in Oakland to Joseph and Viola Mann.

He married D. Sylvia Leather on May 20, 1950 in Berkeley, California. After receiving his journeyman machinist certificate, he went on to earn his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He worked for Up-Right Harvesters and Claude Laval Corporation as Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. He retired to Grass Valley, where he was available for consulting and enjoyed riding his horses and world travel.

He will be missed at home by his devoted wife Sylvia and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years D. Sylvia M. Mann; daughter and son-in-law Sylvia (Sibby) Maxstone and William Green; son and daughter-in-law Fletcher and Sharan Mann; grandchildren, Caroline “Carly” Maxstone, Sheri Guin, Andrea Sanders, Scott Mann, Heather McCarthy, and Heidi Anderson; and his adorable great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his precious son, Stuart Spencer Mann.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
