Elizabeth Brown

Elizabeth Homan Brown passed away on Aug. 6, 2015. She was 95.

Betty was born on Sept. 27, 1919 to Howard L. and Marion Baird. She was raised in New Hampshire and graduated from Keene Teachers College.

She married Rev. Arnold Brown and together they served churches in New England, California, Oregon, Montana, and Arizona.

She taught in a one-room school in New Hampshire and later she taught middle school grades. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over 60 years.

She had lived in Nevada City since 2006.

She is survived by her son Baird Brown (Ann) of Redondo Beach, California; daughter, Bonnie Howard (Barry) of Nevada City; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; and three nephews and a niece.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother James L. Baird, of Concord, Massachusetts.

A private family memorial service will be held.

The interment will take place in Richmond, New Hampshire.

Contributions in her memory may be sent to The Hospice of the Foothills or to another hospice organization.
