Obituary of Astrid Olga Sjoberg

Astrid Olga Sjoberg of Grass Valley passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 5, 2017. She was 78.

Astrid was born in Keistio Finland, to Verner and Irma Lauren on March 11, 1939.

Astrid was married to her sweetheart Carl Johan Sjoberg in Finland on April 12, 1959. The two immigrated to the United States in 1961 and lived in San Jose for 33 years.

Astrid operated her own housekeeping business during their time in the Bay Area until she retired in 1995. Carl also retired that year and they moved to their new home in Grass Valley, where in 2009 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed their golden years together until Carl’s passing in 2011.

Astrid was extremely outgoing and she enjoyed many things, like travel, TV comedies and spending time with her friends and family.

Astrid is survived by her sister Siv; daughter Ann Marie (Dave); sons Johnny (Teri) and Jorgen; grandson Justin and many more whom she loved and who called her “Mormor.”

A private “celebration of life” will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017, in Grass Valley.

The family would like to express our extreme gratitude for the help and care given by the extraordinary staff at Crystal Ridge Care Center.
