Obituary of Alma Sims

Alma Sims passed away on January 21, 2016 at Rideout Hospital in Marysville, CA.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Alma was born on August 13, 1919 in Rock Port, Illinois. She came by train in 1943 to marry her husband, Homer at Camp Beale in Marysville, CA. They fell in love with Grass Valley and decided after the war to make their home there.

She taught school in the old Rough and Ready school house and then went to Hennessy School where she retired after teaching second grade for many years.

Alma was also a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Nevada City.

She is survived by her daughter; Sheila (Tom) Randal of Nevada City; granddaughter, Jennifer (Rob) Luna of Reno, NV; niece, Sandra (Larry) Payne and nephew, Kent (Kathy) Myers of Illinois. She also has several great nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband; parents and a brother.

Arrangements are under the care of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
