Obituary of Alice Teichert

Alice Teichert passed away on January 30, 2016, in the loving Grass Valley home that she had created with her spouse, Robert E. Teichert. Always holding hands in life, they now are together for their next adventure.

Alice Cook was born in Meadowlands, Pennsylvania, on December 1, 1925. Alice (“Cookie to some) graduated from Haddonfield High School in 1943. She married Robert E. Teichert on January 17, 1948. The couple’s first big adventure was the move from New Jersey to make California their lasting home.

Alice was an avid organic gardener (starting in the 50’s), a bee keeper, Boy Scout Den Mother, 4-H leader, active PTA member, school playground monitor and room mother, Hospice respite giver, and a member of YLI. She quietly was a good ping-pong player and a marksman. She missed nothing, often subtly providing a favorite food or drink to any who visited. Many visitors were incorporated into prepping vegetables, such as cutting grocery bags of beans for canning. Through tales highlighting her loving connections with her siblings and parents, she passed on the gift that distance never diminishes “family.”

She is survived by her loving children, Dan, Lorie and Sue; grandchildren Ben, Haley, Mason, and June; great grandchildren Zoey and Finley.

The family celebrates their life with Alice. At this time, a later gathering in “planting season” seems right.
