Kathleen Austin

Kathleen Lee Austin passed away in Grass Valley on March 3, 2015, while holding the hand of the love of her life, Dennis Gustafson. They had spent the last 18 years together.

Kathleen was born Sept. 30, 1956 in Corona, California, to William and Dephane (Lusby) Johnson. She was raised and schooled in Altadena, California.

Kathleen’s passion for life and love for her family and friends was always foremost.

She worked in the hospitality industry, owning and operating bed-and-breakfast. She also worked for many years as a professional organizer.

Kathleen had many interests and hobbies. She sang and played the guitar in restaurants and bars all over the state. She loved to sew and was an award-winning quilter.

She is survived by her son Perry Michael-Hanen Austin, her sister Sue Olt of Paso Robles, her brother Pat Johnson of Pasadena, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Lewis Steven Case.

A celebration of her life is being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
