Nancy Kaestner

Nancy Kaestner passed away peacefully Nov. 22, 2013, after a long and very courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 70.

She was born Aug. 8, 1943, in Sacramento, Calif.

Nancy was an exceptionally talented and prolific self-taught water colorist. The beauty of her paintings is awe-inspiring. Her work is known and recognized throughout the United States and Europe. She has brought joy to thousands of people who have viewed her outstanding creations — not only her original paintings but innumerable limited edition prints, etchings, posters, greeting cards and gift items. Her art will live on.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Uli Kaestner; her children, Lacy Handy and Shawn Furrer; her sisters, Sue Nepstead and Gloria Nepstead; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many cousins; and many friends.

Family and friends will gather at a later date to celebrate her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Food Bank of Nevada County, 310 Railroad Ave., No. 100, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
