Kathleen Duarte

Kathleen “Kathy” Duarte passed away Nov. 5, 2012, with her family by her side in Fernley, Nev. She was 73.

A celebration of life was held at her residence for her close family and friends.

She was born June 22, 1939, in Hubbard, Neb., to Martin and Genevieve Johnsen.

An avid sports fan, Kathy’s interests included Nascar, bowling, basketball and gambling. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren share her love for sports. Her most peaceful moments were spent in her backyard with fruit trees and her pets.

She worked for 21 years with Grass Valley Group.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Ernest; daughter, Janet Debra Daily of Nevada City, Calif.; son, Rick Duarte of Petaluma, Calif.; daughter, Tina (Duarte) Williams of Santa Rosa, Calif.; son, Tony Duarte of Heron, Mont.; brothers, Rodney Johnsen and Donald Johnsen both of Oxnard, Calif.; sisters, Barbara Hopper of Libby, Mont.; Sherri Gregory (Johnsen) of Camarillo, Calif.; Vicki Lasofsky (Johnsen) of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Yvonne Burbank (Daily), Yvette Case (Daily), Erica Daily, Mariah Nasey and Brady Williams; great-grandchildren, Braedon Case, Kyler Case, Wyett Case, Cole Burbank, Lili Burbank, Nevaeh Daily and Aliyah Delavega.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Brice Johnsen.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon, Nev.
