Ira Ainger

Ira D. Ainger passed away Oct. 14, 2012, in Grass Valley, Calif., surrounded by his family. He was 90.

Graveside Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 459 Hollow Way, Nevada City, Calif.

He was born Nov. 3, 1921, to Ira R. Ainger and Alameda Gibson Benning. He graduated from Glenn County High School in 1940. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. He was involved in heavy equipment sales and service. He retired in 1989 from Robinson Enterprises. He also participated in many organizations, such as the Lions, Boy Scouts, Elks, 4-H and various Methodist churches. His hobbies included woodworking, vintage tractors, hunting and RVing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Mcmartin Ainger of Grass Valley; daughter Joyce Nelson of Yuba City, Calif.; son Don R. Ainger and daughter in-law Sue of Grass Valley; sister Alice Post of Florence, Ore.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation, Dialysis Foundation or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
