Elsie Fowler

Elsie Fowler passed away on Oct. 6, 2013, at Golden Empire Convalescent Home due to complications following a fall. She was 97.

Elsie was born on Oct. 17, 1915, and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. After attending Cornell University, where she met her husband, Harry Fowler, Elsie moved with her growing family to Wisconsin, then to Indiana and finally to Franklin, Pa., where she raised her three children, Peggy, Frank and Susan.

Elsie worked for the State of Pennsylvania as a social worker for over 15 years and helped in the management of Fowler Farm Services, the family business.

She was an avid bridge player and swimmer and was a strong willed and loving mother of a growing family. She moved to Florida with her husband, Harry, in the mid-1980s and lived in Port St. Lucie until Harry’s death in 2003. After five years in Naples, Fla., Elsie moved to Grass Valley and enjoyed her new life at the Eskaton Senior Living Center.

She is survived by her son, Frank; daughters Susan and Margaret; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
