Donald J. Ryan

Don J. Ryan passed away in Grass Valley on Oct. 8, 2013, due to complications from his prostate cancer.

At his request, no memorial service is planned.

Born in Los Angele, Calif., on July 31, 1924, he was raised in Isla Vista, Santa Barbara County, Calif. Don was the oldest of five siblings. He was a WWII Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Barbara (Hoge). They would have celebrated their 70-year anniversary on Jan. 29, 2014.

Survivors include his sisters, Gloria Ruiz of Oxnard and Sylvia (Jeff) Hartman of Camarillo, Calif.

Barbara and Don had four children who were present these past three days — Duncan of Mt. Shasta, Calif.; Bruce (Joyce) of Blue Lake, Calif., Lindsay Marich (Jim) of Penn Valley, Calif.; and Lisa Dolen (Jim) of St. Helena, Calif.; and their six wonderful grandchildren Coll and Rowan Fasi, Katy, Molly and Calvin Ryan and Kelly Lutz.

He is also survived by his large extended family, including C.O.R.R. and all of the fabulous volunteers he has worked with selflessly for the past 19 years. Let go, Let God.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, Leland; and his sister, Patricia Gallagher.
