Darlene A. Rucker passed away at home in Grass Valley, Calif., Aug. 2, 2013.

There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. at New Elm Ridge Cemetery on Kidder Avenue, Grass Valley. A celebration of life will follow at Darlene’s home at 20 Candy Lane, Sierra Pines Mobile Home Park in Grass Valley.

Darlene was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Helper, Utah. She was a model, actress, interior decorator and very much a woman about town in Hollywood and San Francisco in her younger years.

She moved to Grass Valley to be near her mother and aunt in 1990. After Aunt Edythe passed away, Darlene moved in with her mother.

She was an avid tennis player, painter and sketch artist. She was also an accomplished sculptor. She loved board games and dominoes. Her greatest love was being with her family.

Darlene is survived by her two sons, Robert Patterson and John Rucker; her sister, Ginger Costanzo; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, L.R. Bills; her mother, Bea Vagts; and her brother, Ronald Johnson.
