Corinne Porter

Corinne Genevieve Porter passed away peacefully July 18, 2013, at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley, Calif.

Corinne was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Fullerton, Calif. She was married to Charles Mylet Porter of Anaheim, Calif., for more than 50 years. They had two children, Stephen Porter and Michelle (Porter) Salvatore. They lived in Corona del Mar, Calif., for most of their married lives. Her husband died in November 1990, and she lived independently until she came to Nevada City nine years ago to be closer to her daughter, Michelle Salvatore, son-in-law, Michael Salvatore, and her grandchildren.

She was an avid reader, gardener and Dodgers’ fan and embraced the love of the ocean, beach and shells. She loved feeding the birds and squirrels once coming to Nevada City and enjoyed seeing deer in the yard.

She was a wonderful mother to her children, cared deeply for her family and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Salvatore of Nevada City; son, Stephen Porter of Lander, Wyo.; grandsons Zachary Collins and Nicholas Salvatore; and great-granddaughter, Darrian Collins.

We would like to thank Dr. Campbell, Dr. Claydon, Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital, Dr. Vixie and Dr. Yai for the compassionate care given to her during the last several years of her life.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
