Charles Peer

Charles Wickersham Peer died Jan. 6, 2014, in Nevada City, Calif. He was 87.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2014, at the Nevada City Elks Lodge, 518 Highway 49, Nevada City, CA.

Charles was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Sunnyvale, Calif., to Charles Wickersham Peer and Genevieve L. Peer. He was a graduate of San Jose State and was a retired lt. colonel of The U.S. Army, having served 26 years on active duty in Korea, Germany, Taiwan and various U.S. bases.

Charles was an active member of the Nevada City Elks Lodge for 33 years and was an avid golfer, gardener, fisherman and traveler.

Charles was the adoring husband to his wife of 43 years, Joan, a loving father and a friend of many in the Nevada City Area.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons Charles D. Peer and Michael Peer; daughters Marian Huff and Colleen Taylor; stepdaughter, Kim Timberlake; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Chretien; his brother, Kenneth Peer; and his sister, Ethel Cline.
